Mental Health Practitioners
What we do
Mental Health Practitioners are experienced clinicians working in GP practices. They assess, offer brief interventions, and connect you quickly with the right next step, whether that is talking therapy, community support or specialist care.
Who it is for
Adults who need timely mental health advice or short-term support in primary care. For under 18s, see CAMHS.
How to access
Ask your GP practice for a Mental Health Practitioner appointment.
You can also self-refer to Impact on Teesside for talking therapies. Phone 01642 573924.
In a crisis, call NHS 111 and choose option 2.
What to expect
- Same-day or soon assessment where possible
- Brief support and a clear plan
- Direct links into local NHS and voluntary services
Why this team is great
You get specialist input early, which speeds up the right support and reduces repeat appointments.
Urgent help
Important: Urgent mental health help
If you need urgent mental health help, call NHS 111 and choose option 2. If there is immediate risk to life, call 999.
